Event Description

This race is run on a point to point route that starts in the village of Northeast Harbor (half way point of the marathon). It follows a picturesque and challenging path that winds across Mount Desert Island and comes to an end in Southwest Harbor. There is free shuttle bus transportation from Bar Harbor (marathon start) to Northeast harbor for the start of the race. At the end of the race there will be shuttle from the Finish Line back to Bar Harbor. Portions of our course are open to local traffic. The route has been certified at 13.1 miles (21.1km) by USATF. (Certification #ME16012JK). All finishers will receive our world-famous CRUSHER CLAW! medallion. The top three overall finishers (male and female) will receive a prize: 1st Overall Male & Female: $500, 2nd Overall Male & Female: $250, 3rd Overall Male & Female: $100. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers, in each age groups. The top-3 male and female Mount Desert Island area residents to finish will also be awarded.
